2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Coming off a rookie season that saw him strike out 171 batters over 145 innings, Arrighetti had some buzz in fantasy drafts last spring. Unfortunately, injuries limited the 26-year-old to just seven starts and 35.1 innings for the Astros in 2025. The primary culprit in Arrighett's lost season was a freak accident during batting practice in early April that resulted in a fractured right thumb and four-month absence. Arrighetti then had all of September wiped out by right elbow inflammation, though he's expected to enter 2026 with a clean bill of health. What Arrighetti did in a limited sample in 2025 didn't quell concerns about his control (12.8 percent walk rate) or home run issues (six allowed in 35.1 frames), and his strikeout rate dipped below 20 percent. The swing-and-miss should come back, but the righty is likely to be a volatile fantasy commodity even if he stays healthy in 2026. Read Past Outlooks
Expected to be ready for spring
Arrighetti (elbow) is expected to be 100 percent for the beginning of spring training, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis
Arrighetti missed the final month of the season with a right elbow injury, but he's considered healthy now and is "having a very productive offseason," per Astros general manager Dana Brown. The 25-year-old was limited to only seven starts at the major-league level in 2025, as he was sidelined four months with a right thumb fracture in addition to the elbow issue. Brown indicated that Arrighetti has a rotation spot for 2026 locked up.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Arrighetti's rookie season had a little bit of everything for everyone, including his fans and his detractors. He had four different contests in which he struck out 10 or more batters, capped off by a 13 strikeout performance against Boston. Four other times, he allowed five or more earned runs, including seven in just 1.1 innings against Detroit. He twice allowed three homers in a contest, and yet struck out 27.1 percent of the batters he faced. However, it was that inconsistency that led to him winning just seven of his 28 starts for a team that won its division. The rookie lived and died off his curveball and sweeper, which collectively held opposing hitters to a .151 batting average, while the league hit .296 off the rest of his offerings. Arrighetti showed signs of progress in the second half, as three of the four aforementioned big strikeout games came after the break, and a reduction in his walk rate helped reduce his ERA two and a half runs from the first half. As long as his nonbreaking pitches are this hittable, homers will continue to be an issue for him in Houston, but reducing the walks can help offset some of that damage. That 21.4 percent K-BB percentage in the second half of the season is something to admire since his overall numbers somewhat mask that late-season goodness.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Top AL rookie in August
Arrighetti was named the American League Rookie of the Month for August on Tuesday.
Analysis
The rookie right-hander was inconsistent through his first 19 big-league starts as he closed July with a 5.58 ERA through 92 innings, but he got on track in August and posted a 1.95 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB across 32.1 innings. Arrighetti had a 3-2 record during the month but posted double-digit strikeouts in three of his five starts. The 24-year-old should stick in the rotation for the rest of the season, with Ronel Blanco likely to move to the bullpen for the stretch run. A strong finish could have Arrighetti in the mix to make postseason starts, though right now he may be on the outside looking in for a pared-down playoff rotation.
