This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
Abreu's .825 OPS facing righties compared to a .532 mark versus lefties resulted in Abreu collecting 85 percent of his plate appearances against right-handers. Even with the smattering of action without the platoon edge, Abreu posted a 94th percentile hard hit rate and 86th percentile barrel rate. A 28.2 percent strikeout rate facing righties dampened Abreu's production. He fanned at a slightly lower clip against southpaws, but his quality of contact was weak. Abreu's league-leading 18 defensive runs saved in right field along with nine assists earned him a Gold Glove. His defensive prowess may help earn more playing time, but it's best to plan on reduced playing time. Abreu outpointed his xBA and xSLG, but playing in Fenway Park often skews the expected algorithms. There may be some regression, but Abreu's quality of contact is solid. He just needs to put the ball in play more.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be on move
The Red Sox "almost surely" will trade one of Abreu or Jarren Duran this offseason, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
Dealing one of the two left-handed-hitting outfielders would allow the Red Sox to rejigger their roster and possibly shore up another need. Abreu was limited to 115 regular-season games due to injury in 2025, but he posted a .786 OPS, hit 22 home runs and won his second consecutive Gold Glove. The 29-year-old is also under team control through 2029, so there would be plenty of interest if he is indeed made available.
