Celtics Hold Off Mavs In Game 2
The Boston Celtics defeated the visiting Dallas Mavericks, 105-98, in Game 2 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden on Sunday evening.

The Mavs got out to a strong start and led, 28-25, after one quarter. The Celtics came out better in the second and rallied to a three-point lead by halftime. The hosts kept the momentum going in the third and outscored the Mavs, 29-23, to push their lead up to nine points heading into the final frame. The Mavs kept up the fight in the fourth and cut it down to a five-point game with just over a minute to go, but the Celtics came up with a clutch plays on both ends of the floor to secure their second win of the series.

Jrue Holiday led the Celtics with 26 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block, in 41 minutes. Jaylen Brown followed up with 21 points, four rebounds, seven assists and three steals, while Jayson Tatum added 18 points, nine rebounds, 12 assists and a steal. The Celtics shot 45.2 percent from the field and 19-for-20 from the foul line.

Meanwhile, Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 32 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and four steals, in 42 minutes. P.J. Washington followed up with 17 points, seven rebounds and a block, while Kyrie Irving finished with 16 points, two rebounds and six assists. The Mavs shot just 6-for-26 from long range and gave up a total of 15 turnovers.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday in Dallas.
