2024 Fantasy Outlook
After a subpar first season in Minnesota, Gobert stepped things up in Year 2 and was a key piece in Minnesota's run to the Western Conference Finals. He averaged 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds (second-most in the NBA) and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 66.1 percent from the field and 63.8 percent from the charity stripe across 76 regular-season appearances. The field-goal percentage, rebounds and blocks once again overshadowed his poor free-throw shooting, and Gobert finished 38th in eight-category leagues -- a major bounce back from a 68th-place finish in 2022-23. Barring a major injury, it's difficult to envision Gobert not returning top-50 value in most leagues again, as he's finished inside the top 40 of eight-cat leagues in seven of his past 10 campaigns. Karl-Anthony Towns has been replaced by Julius Randle, and Naz Reid seems content with a bench role after winning Sixth Man of the Year, so Gobert's role should be steady while playing for a contender again. While Gobert is a safe pick, there's no reason for fantasy managers to reach inside the top 40 given his limited upside. Read Past Outlooks

Invisible in Game 5 loss
Gobert closed Wednesday's 124-94 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals with two points (1-1 FG), five rebounds, one assist and one block over 19 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Gobert closed his postseason with another disappointing performance, having failed to have a huge impact despite the team's success. Through 15 playoff games, Gobert scored double digits only three times, blocking multiple shots on just three occasions. It was a somewhat underwhelming season all-around for Gobert, averaging 12.0 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 72 appearances across the regular season.

It's hard to predict how good can Gobert be in 2023-24, in what's going to be his second year with the Timberwolves following the trade that sent him to Minnesota from the Jazz. There's no doubt Gobert is effective near the rim and can score from close range with the best of them, and he remains an elite rim protector who can also grab rebounds at an elite rate, but all those traits didn't appear consistently with Minnesota. The veteran averaged 13.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 regular season, but it's worth noting these were his lowest results since the 2015-16 campaign. Furthermore, his 1.4 blocks per game were his lowest mark since his second year in the league. While the return of Karl-Anthony Towns, as well as the expected jump from Anthony Edwards, could alleviate some of the concerns around him, chances are he's not going to repeat the same numbers he was delivering with the Jazz. Gobert is still a productive player in most fantasy formats and can do a good job on both ends of the court while also being quite durable for big men standards, but he's not the elite big men he was a few years ago.

Linked to Durant swap
Gobert could be included in trade talks for Kevin Durant, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Scotto notes that Phoenix is looking for an upgrade at center, and on the other side of things, a Gobert trade could open the door for Naz Reid to become a starter for Minnesota. The Timberwolves are not considered a favorite to land Durant for the time being, however, as the veteran superstar has stated that he would like to join the Spurs, Rockets or Heat.
