2024 Fantasy Outlook
Watford spent the first two years of his career with the Trail Blazers, and while he featured more regularly in his sophomore year in 2023-24, his production was steady. However, in Watford's case, steady means he, once again, had minimal fantasy upside across all formats. He averaged 7.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game across 62 regular-season appearances (12 starts) in 2023-24. He was traded to the Nets before the start of the 2024-25, and although he might have more chances to play regularly in Brooklyn, he's not likely to garner a starting role any time soon. Since he'll be a backup in a rebuilding team, Watford is not expected to have a lot of upside in fantasy in most formats in 2024-25. He might be a decent streaming option in very deep leagues, but even that's a long shot and would depend heavily on his playing time. Read Past Outlooks

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Watford saw little court time during the early part of his first NBA campaign, but he played 30-plus minutes in 11 of 15 games following the All-Star break and averaged 14.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks during that stretch. A leg injury kept him out of Portland's final eight contests, but that didn't dampen the impression he made on the organization as an undrafted rookie. To that point, the Trail Blazers terminated Watford's two-way contract and signed him to a four-year deal in mid-February. The addition of Jerami Grant in the offseason means that Watford isn't going to reprise his late-season starting role, but he could carve out decent minutes off the bench. Watford isn't likely to be a major fantasy asset next year, yet his MVP performance in the Las Vegas Summer League championship game this July further validates that he belongs in the NBA.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Could see bigger role
Watford might take on a bigger role for the Nets with Ben Simmons no longer on the roster, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year forward returned in late January from a hamstring strain, and in three games since Simmons suited up for the last time for Brooklyn, Watford averaged 22.0 minutes a contest, a big jump from the 16.1 minutes a game he saw prior to his injury. Watford won't challenge Cameron Johnson or Nic Claxton for a starting job in the Nets' frontcourt, but he could emerge as an important bench piece coming out of the All-Star break.
