2023 Projections

Set to join Crimson Tide
Nelson is expected to play at Alabama in 2023-24 and join the program as a transfer from North Dakota State, Tobias Bass of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Following a banner 2022-23 campaign at North Dakota State in which he averaged 17.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 blocks in 30.6 minutes per game, Nelson declared for the 2023 NBA Draft, only to withdraw one day before the May 31 deadline. Nelson simultaneously entered the portal when he declared for the draft and has now apparently decided to continue his career at Alabama, though an official announcement on that front may not come until next week. Assuming Nelson ends up signing with the Crimson Tide, he'll help fill the void in the frontcourt left by the departure of freshman Noah Clowney, who entered the draft.
