Leaving for 2024 NFL Draft
January 2, 2024
Bowers announced Tuesday via his personal Instagram account that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Georgia to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Bowers had already opted out of Georgia's 63-3 win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl on Saturday and is viewed as the clear top tight end prospect in the upcoming draft class, so his decision to leave school early for the professional ranks comes as little surprise. Over his three years in Athens, Bowers amassed 2,538 receiving yards -- the most by a tight end in SEC history -- and accounted for 31 total touchdowns. Sophomore Oscar Delp worked as Georgia's No. 2 tight end in 2023 and should ascend to the starting role in 2024.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Bowers followed up a spectacular freshman campaign with an equally sensational sophomore season. He set career highs in receptions and receiving yards, finishing with 63 grabs for 942 yards and seven touchdowns. Though he fell short of his standout 13 receiving scores from his first year in Athens, he did score three rushing touchdowns as a sophomore, as the Bulldogs attempted to find different ways to get the ball into the hands of one of their prime playmakers. Bowers also averaged 15 yards per catch for the second-straight year. Stetson Bennett is finally gone, so Bowers will need to develop a rapport with a new quarterback, likely Carson Beck. Still, Bowers remains a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses, particularly in the green and red zones, and there is little reason to believe he will not continue to be the top tight end in the nation despite the change at quarterback.
It’s not often that a tight end leads a team in every major receiving category. It’s even rarer when it’s a true freshman, but that’s what happened with Bowers in 2021 for the eventual national champions. He reeled in 56 of 81 targets for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns to become the No.1 fantasy tight end. Bowers remains the top option in this offense despite additions like former All-SEC honoree Arik Gilbert along with players on the rise like Adonai Mitchell. Bowers’ unique volume and explosiveness make him the consensus TE1 this year and is worthy of a high draft pick.
