Vandagriff is a redshirt sophomore who has thrown a total of three passes during his collegiate career. The quarterback room for the Bulldogs is crowded, with expected starter Carson Beck and redshirt freshman Gunner Stockton. While Beck is more experienced than his counterparts and should have the inside track to the starting quarterback spot at Georgia, Vandagriff is a highly touted recruit in his own right and was one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2021. Vandagriff is also a local product from Athens Christian, and the son of a coach as well. While Vandagriff is not as big as Beck, calls for a change will come swiftly if Beck is even mediocre early on this season. The standards are extremely high at Georgia these days, and the 2024 commitments of Dylan Raiola and Ryan Puglisi will only serve to place even more pressure on Vandagriff and the rest of the quarterback room for the Bulldogs. Lands at Kentucky
Vandagriff announced Wednesday via social media that he has committed to Kentucky, joining the program as a graduate transfer from Georgia.
ANALYSIS
Just two days after entering the portal, Vandagriff found a landing spot within the SEC. A highly-rated recruit from the 2021 cycle, Vandagriff wasn't able to climb to the top of the depth chart over his three seasons in Georgia. While playing behind the likes of JT Daniels, Stetson Bennett and Carson Beck, Vandagriff appeared in relief in 13 games during his time with the Bulldogs, completing 12 of 21 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns to go with six carries for 46 yards. Despite his lack of extensive playing experience, Vandagriff's pedigree should give the edge on emerging as the Wildcats' starting quarterback in 2024 with incumbent Devin Leary having exhausted his eligibility.
