2025 Fantasy Outlook
Smith drew ample buzz leading up to his true freshman campaign, and he certainly didn't disappoint, delivering 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns over 16 games en route to a national title. In regards to his regular season, he averaged 4.8 grabs for 77.8 yards and totaled 10 touchdowns over 12 games, certainly keeping his name among the top of the CFF ranks. Gone from last season is starting quarterback Will Howard, but so is star wideout Emeka Egbuka and running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. Carnell Tate is undoubtedly a talented wideout taking over as the No. 2 in the pecking order, Smith is the clear alpha of this room, and roster turnover abounds elsewhere, so an uptick in Smith's target share and production seems a probable outcome despite some inexperienced under center, where freshman Julian Sayin appears the likely candidate to take the reins. While there is also a change at offensive coordinator, with Brian Hartline set to take over there, Hartline comes from a wide receiver background and was a co-offensive coordinator last season, so the scheme should remain similar. Dealing with potential issue
Ohio State's head coach Ryan Day said Tuesday that Smith (undisclosed) will take it day-by-day to get back on the field, Spencer Holbrook of On3.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In Week 12, Smith made headlines during Ohio State's game against UCLA, as he was seen jogging gingerly into the locker room at halftime. It appears that the wide receiver was dealing with some type of problem, which may explain why he logged a season low in targets that same matchup. The fact that Smith cannot step on a football field suggests he is questionable as OSU's team prepares for its Week 13 game Saturday against Rutgers.
