2023 Fantasy Outlook
Despite the presence of John Emery as well as Penn State transfer Noah Cain, it was Williams who led all LSU running backs in rushing last season. Williams also managed a team-best 5.5 yards per carry. However, Cain and Emery still received their fair share of touches, and both backs along with quarterback Jayden Daniels scored at least six times on the ground. Emery is gone but Daniels and Cain both return to LSU this season, along with Armoni Goodwin and Notre Dame transfer Logan Diggs. While Williams and Cain have the experience with the program, Diggs rushed for 820 yards last season with the Irish, including three 100-yard outings in the final seven games of the year. As a result, the backfield looks crowded entering the 2023 campaign, and with high expectations, coach Brian Kelly could simply ride the hot hand. That would make Williams difficult to trust on a weekly basis.
