2023 Fantasy Outlook
Okwuegbunam's 2022 season was a major disappointment, as the 2020 fourth-rounder finished with 10 catches for 95 yards and one touchdown while playing in only eight games. The 25-year-old had high expectations after Noah Fant's departure last offseason, but he was unable to take advantage of his impressive athleticism with limited opportunities. Okwuegbunam profiles as the No. 2 tight end behind Greg Dulcich, but his spot as the primary backup could be in danger. This offseason, the Broncos signed Adam Trautman, reuniting him with Denver's new head coach Sean Payton, whom he played under in New Orleans. Read Past Outlooks

Sitting Thursday
Okwuegbunam (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Okwuegbunam was traded to Philadelphia from the Broncos in late August and he'll now sit for the second straight contest to open the 2023 campaign. It's possible that with one more week of practice under his belt, the tight end makes his Eagles debut in Week 3 versus the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

2020
Denver’s offseason blockbuster deal with Seattle was the best thing that could have happened
for Okwuegbunam’s fantasy value. Not only did he get a massive upgrade at quarterback with
the acquisition of Russell Wilson, but Albert O also ascended to the top of the depth chart after
the trade sent Noah Fant to Seattle. Okwuegbunam flashed receiving ability despite being
blocked by Fant, and now he’ll get a chance to strut his stuff as the likely starter. A fourth-round
pick in the 2020 Draft, Okwuegbunam caught 33 of 40 targets last year at 8.2 yards per target
(11th among TE), becoming one of the better No. 2 tight ends in the league after an ACL tear
ruined his rookie season. Among tight ends with at least 30 receptions, only Miami backup
Durham Smythe (82.9 percent) had a higher catch rate than Okwuegbunam’s 82.5 percent.
Before you get too excited, just keep in mind that no tight end playing with Wilson has topped
500 yards since Jimmy Graham in 2017. Then again, Okwuegbunam is probably the most
talented pass catcher Wilson’s had to work with at that position in the last five years.
