2024 Fantasy Outlook
The 12th pick in this year’s draft, Nix seemingly has little competition for the starting job in Denver with only career backup Jarrett Stidham and first-round bust Zach Wilson standing in his way. Nix’s best attribute is avoiding negative plays, as he threw 26 INTs in five years as a collegiate starter and took 10 sacks in two years at Oregon. Nix is a skilled passer, though he doesn’t have the arm talent of the other first-round quarterbacks from the 2024 Draft. Oregon’s offense didn’t ask him to do much downfield, instead relying on a heavy diet of screen passes and quick throws, which explains how he set the NCAA single-season record for completion percentage (77.4) last season. Indeed, his 6.8-yard average target depth was the lowest in this year’s draft. At 6-2, 214, Nix is reasonably athletic and can throw on the run but lacks an elite trait. Nix's quick release and processing ability could make him a good fit for Sean's Payton offense -- a la Drew Brees in his later years -- and if anyone is NFL ready it should be Nix, whose 61 starts were an NCAA record for a QB. The Broncos drafted Oregon teammate Troy Franklin in the fourth round to join Courtland Sutton in an otherwise lackluster wideout corps, and Nix should add some rushing stats after posting 1,613 yards and 38 TDs in college. RANKS
Efficient in big win
Nix completed 16 of 26 passes for 164 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed 10 times for 75 yards in the Broncos' 33-10 win over the Saints on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Nix faced a Saints team that was significantly short-handed on offense, so he had the luxury of being able to run a fairly conservative game plan that limited his exposure as a passer. The rookie managed to remain free of turnovers for the fourth time in the last five games, and he connected with six different targets overall. Nix's rush attempts and rushing yards were both new career highs as well, and he appears to be making solid week-to-week progress heading into a favorable Week 8 home matchup against the vulnerable Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Still has coach's confidence
Nix, who ranks at or near the bottom of many major statistical passing categories after four games, still has the confidence of head coach Sean Payton, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nix appeared to take a significant step forward in a road win over the Buccaneers in Week 3, when he threw for 216 yards while completing 69.4 percent of his passes and contributing a 9-47-1 line on the ground. However, Nix completed just 48 percent of his throws and threw for a meager 60 yards in rainy conditions against the Jets at MetLife Stadium in Week 4, a game the Broncos won largely on the merits of their improved defense.
