Bobby McCain

29-Year-Old CornerbackCB
New York Giants
2022 Fantasy Outlook
McCain was one of the few strong performers in an ugly 2021 season for Washington's defense, recording 63 tackles, nine pass defenses and four interceptions (including one pick-six) in 17 games. He re-signed in the offseason for two years and $11 million and figures to reprise his role as the deep safety in Washington's defense. McCain's tackle upside for IDP leagues is somewhat limited, as fellow safety Kamren Curl spends more time up near the box. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
McCain, an eight-year veteran defensive back, is now slated to suit up for New York in 2023 following Tuesday's transaction. The 29-year-old had his two most productive seasons while playing for Washington across the last two years, as he registered 139 tackles, 14 passes defensed and four interceptions in that span.

2015
McCain made 55 starts for Miami over the past six seasons, but he may be a sub-package player in Washington, where Kamren Curl and Landon Collins also have starting credentials at safety.
McCain served as Miami's starting free safety when healthy in 2019, notching 25 tackles and two INTs through nine games. He appears on track to take the field Week 1 fully recovered from shoulder surgery, at which point he'll be the favorite to start opposite Eric Rowe. Rookie third-round pick Brandon Jones could push for reps early on, however, making Rowe a risky season-long fantasy option. On the other hand, the addition of Byron Jones should significantly bolster Miami's secondary.
McCain was the Dolphins fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Entry draft. He is unlikely to start this season for Miami as Brent Grimes and Will Davis are a formidable duo on the outside but health could be a factor here as Davis is returning from a knee injury. McCain will provide the team with valuable insurance in the secondary.
