2025 Fantasy Outlook
Wright is a distant second behind Sam LaPorta on Detroit’s TE depth chart. LaPorta has missed only one game in his two-year NFL career, and Wright was limited to just one catch in that game, though it went for a five-yard TD in a 52-6 rout of the Jaguars in 2024. That’s one of nine touchdowns Wright has scored in his four-year NFL career, and he has averaged just 131 yards per season with a high of 216. Wright’s fantasy value is nearly nonexistent as long as LaPorta’s available, and Wright seems unlikely to pick up all that much slack in the passing game should LaPorta get hurt, as the Lions have plenty of alternatives at other positions in their high-powered offense. Finds paydirt in Week 2
Wright caught all three of his targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 52-21 win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Wright reeled in an eight-yard touchdown from Jared Goff in the second quarter, reaching the end zone for the first time since Week 11 of the 2024 campaign. The tight end typically operates as a clear No. 2 option behind Sam LaPorta, and the three receptions were his highest total since playing the Cardinals in Week 3 of last season, a game in which LaPorta was limited by an undisclosed injury. Wright will remain an unappealing option for fantasy managers as long as LaPorta is active for the Lions.

After the 49ers extended a three-year, $12 million offer sheet to Wright as a restricted free agent this offseason, the Lions retained him, meaning he'll return to Detroit for a fourth season with the team. The tight end has never been considered a significant pass catcher, topping out at 18 receptions in 2022, but his elite run-blocking ability has made him an invaluable asset for the Lions offense. With Sam LaPorta operating as the team's primary offensive weapon at tight end, Wright's week-to-week output likely will remain limited in the fall.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could start in wild-card round
Wright could serve Detroit's top tight end for Sunday's wild-card game against the Rams, as head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Sam LaPorta will likely miss the contest due to a knee injury, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com.
ANALYSIS
LaPorta sustained the injury in the Lions' Week 18 win over the Vikings and wasn't able to practice Wednesday. The standout rookie's absence coincided with Wright's return from a hip injury, as Wright logged a full practice Wednesday and looks ready for his first action since Week 15. Wright isn't usually much of a pass catcher, but he could see more opportunities against a Rams defense that allowed 987 yards and eight touchdowns to tight ends in the regular season, the sixth-most and second-most in the NFL, respectively.
