2024 Fantasy Outlook
After the 49ers extended a three-year, $12 million offer sheet to Wright as a restricted free agent this offseason, the Lions retained him, meaning he'll return to Detroit for a fourth season with the team. The tight end has never been considered a significant pass catcher, topping out at 18 receptions in 2022, but his elite run-blocking ability has made him an invaluable asset for the Lions offense. With Sam LaPorta operating as the team's primary offensive weapon at tight end, Wright's week-to-week output likely will remain limited in the fall. Read Past Outlooks
Nabs touchdown in blowout win
Wright caught his only target for an eight-yard touchdown in Sunday's 52-14 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Wright made the most of his one touch in Week 8, reeling in an eight-yard score in the second quarter. The tight end hadn't secured a catch since Week 4 and through seven games in 2024, he's caught eight of 10 targets for 57 yards and a touchdown. Wright remains an unattractive fantasy option while operating as the No. 2 tight end behind Sam LaPorta.

Audric Estime got off to a strong start this past Sunday and pushed Javonte Williams aside, leading the Denver backfield in snaps and carries by a comfortable margin.
Amon-Ra St. Brown could be productive against a Houston defense that doesn't move around its corners, allowing Detroit to avoid Derek Stingley.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the star of Week 9, leading the league in fantasy points and air yards despite taking nearly all of his snaps in the slot. RW's Jerry Donabedian has the full breakdown from Sunday.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Wright has made a name for himself in Detroit since going undrafted out of Notre Dame in 2021, and the blocking specialist even reached TE1 status after T.J. Hockenson was traded midway through last season. However, that deal was largely predicated on the Lions not wanting to give Hockenson a contract extension rather than finding a way to give more playing time to Wright, especially because the team turned around and spent a 2023 second-rounder on the receiving-oriented Sam LaPorta. While Wright could snag a few more TDs in short-yardage situations this season, his main responsibilities likely will involve blocking.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could start in wild-card round
Wright could serve Detroit's top tight end for Sunday's wild-card game against the Rams, as head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Sam LaPorta will likely miss the contest due to a knee injury, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com.
ANALYSIS
LaPorta sustained the injury in the Lions' Week 18 win over the Vikings and wasn't able to practice Wednesday. The standout rookie's absence coincided with Wright's return from a hip injury, as Wright logged a full practice Wednesday and looks ready for his first action since Week 15. Wright isn't usually much of a pass catcher, but he could see more opportunities against a Rams defense that allowed 987 yards and eight touchdowns to tight ends in the regular season, the sixth-most and second-most in the NFL, respectively.
