Cameron Sutton

Cameron Sutton

28-Year-Old CornerbackCB
Detroit Lions
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Detroit's search for a No. 1 cornerback in the post-Darius Slay era has not been pretty, but Sutton - who matched Slay with the eight-most PBUs (15) league-wide last year - offers plenty of hope. That he was given a three-year, $33 million deal suggests he is expected to be an every-down player like he was in Pittsburgh over the last two years, and his strong record of health (two missed games over the past five seasons) bodes well for his ability to stay off the sidelines going forward. Another 50ish tackles and a chance at double-digit PBUs is in the cards in 2023. Read Past Outlooks

The Lions are in line to sign Sutton to a three-year, $33 million deal when the new league year begins Wednesday, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2017 Draft and eventually took over as a full-time starter during the 2020 campaign. In 2022, the 28-year-old totaled 43 tackles, 15 pass defenses and three interceptions across 16 appearances. Sutton will presumably garner a starting role with the Lions, whose secondary was decimated by injuries last year.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
Sutton had a career-best season in 2021, tallying 52 tackles (44 solo), two interceptions, a forced fumble and six pass defenses while appearing in 16 of 17 games. The 27-year-old will serve as a starter once again in 2022.
Sutton began the 2020 campaign as a backup but saw some time as a starter while filling in for Joe Haden and Steven Nelson late in the season. The 2017 third-rounder should serve as a starting cornerback alongside Haden in 2021 after Nelson and Mike Hilton departed via free agency during the offseason. Sutton racked up a career-high 30 tackles (27 solo), one sack, one interception, eight pass breakups and three forced fumbles in 2020, and he's appeared in every game in each of the past two seasons.
