2025 Fantasy Outlook
Although he began 2024 as an off-the-bench complement to Zack Moss, it didn't take long for Brown to prove he was the top running back in Cincinnati. It was probably in Week 4 that the Bengals coaching staff got the hint, when Brown ran for 80 yards and two TDs against Carolina. He went on to out-touch Moss in the next four games, at which point Moss suffered a season-ending neck injury. Brown demonstrated immense receiving upside over eight subsequent games, catching 38 passes, confirming that he has the ability to claim standout volume as both a runner and receiver. Brown withstood massive usage in college at Illinois without breaking down, and he made it through last season healthy until suffering a freak ankle sprain Week 17 when he intentionally went down to run out clock. He might have returned to action if Cincinnati had reached the playoffs, and he's now in excellent position for large 2025 workloads after the team waited until Round 6 to draft a running back (Tahj Brooks). Tops 100 total yards with two TDs
Brown rushed 12 times for 73 yards and a touchdown while catching all three of his targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 39-38 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Brown's 19-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter marked his first trip to the end zone since he scored on the ground back in Week 1, and he tacked on a one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. He also set a new season high with 105 scrimmage yards, topping his 100 against Pittsburgh in Week 7. Fellow Bengals running back Samaje Perine also had his best game of the season with 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown, so Brown could face more competition for touches in a Bengals backfield that's trending up ahead of a Week 9 home game against the Bears.

2023
The Bengals appear to favor Zack Moss as their starting running back after signing him to a two-year, $8 million contract in free agency, though the pay isn't prohibitively high if Brown looks like the better player this summer. The Bengals might more so need a rotation between the two, for the sake of both players. Moss has struggled to stay healthy dating back to college and does no good for Cincinnati if he's injured, with history suggesting he'll get banged up if tasked with large workloads each week. Brown can at least provide relief, and there's a chance the former Illinois standout and 2023 fifth-round pick eventually takes the starting role in Cincinnati. He's a capable runner and receiver both, and he's actually heavier than Moss if the most recent height/weight listing are to be believed (215 pounds to 205). Brown is also younger and much faster than Moss (4.43-second 40 vs. 4.65 seconds), giving the second-year pro a real chance to play a lot of snaps in what should be a quality Bengals offense.
