David Bell

22-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
Cleveland Browns
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Bell was a steady presence in the Browns' offense but did not have a large role in 2022. As a rookie out of Purdue, Bell was the team's primary slot receiver and finished with a modest 35 targets (24 catches). No doubt, the Deshaun Watson saga had a huge impact on the passing game, but the Browns clearly thought last year's receivers were not enough. Cleveland hit the market hard, bringing in Elijah Moore (like Bell, a slot receiver) and Marquise Goodwin. That was before they jumped on Cedric Tillman in the third round of the draft. Bell's fit, along with that of Michael Woods, Jakeem Grant and Anthony Schwartz, is uncertain. Read Past Outlooks

Bell is expected to have a diminished role with the addition of Elijah Moore.
ANALYSIS
Bell was Cleveland's leader with 236 snaps at slot receiver last season, per Pro Football Focus. While he was serviceable in that role, the Browns felt an upgrade was needed and traded for Moore, who was the Jets' leading slot receiver in 2022 with 255 snaps. The Browns also added Marquise Goodwin, who played 187 snaps in the slot for the Seahawks last year, which may further negatively impact Bell's playing time in 2023.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
There’s been first-round buzz around Bell since 2019, when he caught 86 passes for 1,035 yards and seven TDs as a true freshman at Purdue. But he ended up a third-round pick, and barely (99th overall), despite putting up even better numbers as a sophomore and junior. The reason? Bell was one of the big losers of the 2022 Combine, with a 4.65 40 (second slowest among WRs), 33-inch vertical and 118-inch broad jump. You won’t find many wide receivers who post those numbers and go on to NFL success, but one of them is the guy Bell will try to replace in Cleveland — veteran slot receiver Jarvis Landry. While he has the size to play outside, if not the speed, Bell could start off in the slot given that Cleveland’s other receivers (Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz) are better suited for downfield work.
