Spencer bounced on and off the Jets' practice squad all year, but he was never elevated to the active roster. With his new contract, the fourth-year return man will stick with New York and have a chance to compete for a larger role next season.

Spencer is one of the league's most dangerous returners, but likely remains just that from a fantasy perspective. The 29-year-old saw double-digit snaps on offense during the last two games of the 2020 season, but still only recorded two catches for 10 yards. With a number of capable targets ahead of him on the depth chart, the third-year speedster remains on the outskirts of Denver's wideout corps.

Spencer finished 10th in the league with 644 total return yards in 2019 but managed just 37 yards on nine offensive touches. Expect more of the same in 2020. Despite rookie KJ Hamler's sub-4.3 speed, coach Vic Fangio has reaffirmed his confidence in Spencer as the team's returner on both punts and kicks. That should be enough, absent a stark change of plans, to keep Spencer on the roster, even if his role on offense remains extremely limited.
