Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
After surpassing 100 tackles in both 2021 and 2022, Thompson has taken a step back in terms of production under head coach Jonathan Gannon the past two seasons, totaling 176 stops in 30 games during that stretch. Such output equates to 99.7 tackles per 17 games, so Thompson is capable of relevance as an IDP if he's able to put together a full campaign. However, with standout safety Budda Baker coming off a career-best 164 tackles last year, Thompson remains second fiddle in Arizona's defensive backfield. Read Past Outlooks
Solid outing in loss
Thompson tallied six tackles (three solo) in the Cardinals' loss versus the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Thompson has now recorded six or more tackles in five of his first six appearances this season. The 27-year-old has racked up 43 tackles (24 solos) and will look to add to his totals in the team's Week 7 matchup versus Green Bay.

2020
Thompson has become a mainstay in the Cardinals secondary since the team used a fifth-round pick on him in the 2019 Supplemental Draft. In particular, he surpassed 100 tackles in both 2021 and 2022, and while he fell off to 78 tackles in 15 games last season, he notched 100 percent of the defensive snaps on 10 occasions and even posted a career-high four interceptions. Playing alongside free safety Budda Baker and middle linebacker Kyzir White somewhat hamstrings Thompson's potential, but the latter's track record should keep him in the IDP picture yet again in 2024.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might be final year in Arizona
The Cardinals don't appear to be willing to give Thompson a contract extension, Doug Haller of The Athletic speculates.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals have signed several veterans to extensions in the last several seasons, including Budda Baker, James Conner and Zaven Collins. On the surface, that suggests Arizona is willing to retain key personnel, and Thompson fits that description, having logged at least 897 defensive snaps in four consecutive campaigns. On the other hand, it raises questions as to why a deal hasn't gotten done yet as Thompson enters the final year of his current contract. Haller suggests that the Cardinals are hoping Dadrion Taylor-Demerson develops into a starting-caliber safety in time replace Thompson in 2026.
