2025 Fantasy Outlook
Wright's rookie season was disappointing, but patience is warranted in light of his age (22 in April) and the fact that he was never a full-time player in college at Tennessee. The 2024 fourth-round pick still has plenty of potential, thanks to his 4.38 speed at 5-foot-11, 210. De'Von Achane is too light to do everything in the Miami backfield, and with Raheem Mostert no longer on the roster, Wright has a clear path to the No. 2 spot on the depth chart. Rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon may prove to be a better option for power concepts, but Wright's skill set makes him the best fit to take on a large share of Achane's touches if Achane misses time. Deemed 'week-to-week' by McDaniel

August 23, 2025
Coach Mike McDaniel said after Saturday's preseason game versus the Jaguars that Wright (leg) continues to be evaluated and is "week-to-week," Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Such a comment from McDaniel indicates that Wright's status for the Dolphins' season opener Sunday, Sept. 7 at Indianapolis is up in the air. Wright walked off the practice field slowly Thursday and then was spotted with a sleeve on his right leg and without crutches ahead of Saturday's exhibition. With the second-year pro's immediate future to be determined, rookie sixth-rounder Ollie Gordon currently is the healthiest and most appealing reserve running back behind starter De'Von Achane, who currently is sidelined due to a calf injury.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Most draft analysts expected Wright to go sooner than the fourth round this spring, and the combination of a crowded Miami backfield and disappointing draft capital doesn't exactly hint at big-time production Year 1. On the other hand, Raheem Mostert has shown that a running back with Wright's approximate height/weight/speed dimensions can post big numbers in the Mike McDaniel offense. Wright ran a 4.38 40 at 5-11, 210, confirming that he has speed to turn the corner and split safeties in the NFL, after he frequently did so at Tennessee. He averaged 6.0 yards on 146 carries in 2022 and then 7.4 YPC across 137 carries his final season, providing first-rate efficiency on medium-sized workloads in a spread offense. Wright probably isn't much of a power runner and caught only 30 passes in three collegiate seasons, but if Mostert or De'Von Achane misses any time the rookie should offer timely firepower as a rushing specialist.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Believes he can take big step
RBMiami Dolphins
July 19, 2025
Wright, who logged only 71 total touches across 15 regular-season games as a rookie in 2024, is ready to make more of an impact in his second season, Bobby Kownack of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Tennessee product doesn't lack for speed or upside, but as a rookie, he contended with De'Von Achane, Raheem Mostert and even Jeff Wilson ahead of him on the depth chart. With Mostert now in Las Vegas and Wilson not brought back, Wright believes he has the inside track to the No. 2 job behind Achane, despite the presence of veteran addition Alexander Mattison and promising rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon II. "Pass game, I'm going to be way more involved this year," Wright said. "Way more involved just in everything. Run game, pass game, pass protection, everything, so it's going to be really good."
