2025 Fantasy Outlook
Tryon-Shoyinka signed with the Browns early in the free-agent season, citing a desire to play in an attacking defense coached by Jim Schwartz. He played linebacker mostly in 4-3/3-4 schemes over his four years with the Buccaneers, who selected him in the first round of the 2021 draft. His snap count dropped each of the final two seasons in Tampa, and the University of Washington product looked for a better fit, feeling he's found that in Cleveland. The Browns will use him as an edge rusher opposite one of the game's best ones in Myles Garrett. Read Past Outlooks

January 2, 2026
Tryon-Shoyinka (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Tryon-Shoyinka entered the league's concussion protocol during the Bears' Week 17 loss against the 49ers. He was unable to practice during Week 18 prep, and he would need to return to practice in at least a limited capacity in order to have a realistic chance of playing in the wild-card round of the NFC playoffs. Dominique Robinson should see more rotational snaps at defensive end behind starters Austin Booker and Montez Sweat in Tryon-Shoyinka's absence.

2021
Tryon-Shoyinka went into 2023 with expectations that he'd finally deliver on his first-round draft pedigree, and he finished with career highs in tackles (45) and sacks (5.0) while also forcing and recovering a fumble apiece for the first time in his first three seasons. The 25-year-old actually played far fewer defensive snaps (556) than in 2022 (806). That makes last year's numbers more impressive in context, and he should be set for the highest workload of his career this fall due to offseason linebacker departures.
Tryon-Shoyinka took a step forward in his sophomore 2022 campaign, posting a career-high 40 tackles and matching his rookie-season total of four sacks. The athletic linebacker also boosted his defensive snap total from 562 to 806 last year, and the valuable experience he gained with the additional reps should be beneficial as he approaches what could be a breakout in 2023. Tryon-Shoyinka has the benefit of working alongside the same group of talented linebackers - Lavonte David, Devin White and Shaquil Barrett - which may lead to his fair share of 1-on-1 matchups.
The 32nd overall pick in this year's draft, Tryon's destination arguably is both a blessing and a curse with respect to his rookie season. On the one hand, the Washington product couldn't ask for a better set of mentors than Lavonte David, Jason Pierre-Paul, Devin White and Shaquil Barrett. At the same time, the presence of that quartet likely will keep Tyron from seeing the field in base packages in the fall, absent injury. Tryon opted out of last season, but he racked up eight sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss in 13 games as a sophomore in 2019. He appears to have the raw talent to develop into an IDP asset, but his situation isn't ripe for immediate production.

ANALYSIS
The 2021 first-round pick never lived up to his draft pedigree, and he has yet to record more than 5.0 sacks in any of his four NFL seasons. Tryon-Shoyinka's athleticism should still earn him a look in free agency from another team as a depth pass rusher.
