2023 Fantasy Outlook
Wolford arrives in Tampa Bay with more experience than the average third-string quarterback around the league. The Wake Forest product just completed a three-year Rams tenure where he logged eight starts, including one postseason game, the same number he drew with the AAF's Arizona Hotshots in 2019. Wolford is therefore arguably a viable option for head coach Todd Bowles should Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask both falter in the top job. Read Past Outlooks

Gets practice squad chance
Wolford signed to the Buccaneers' practice squad Wednesday, NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wolford was a distant third behind Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask in the quarterback hierarchy during training camp, so his release was not surprising. Neither is his addition to the team's practice squad as the de facto No. 3 option under center. The 27-year-old will now continue to learn the playbook at practice after spending his first three seasons with the Rams.

The Rams re-signed Wolford to a one-year deal in April, giving him another season to work as the backup to Matthew Stafford. The undrafted Wake Forest alum has just one start over his first two years in the league and has yet to throw a touchdown in the NFL. Stafford has missed just eight games (all in 2019) due to injury since 2011, meaning Wolford may be hard pressed to find playing time in Year 3 beyond garbage time.
