The 23-year-old will enter his third season in the NFL as the Lions' undisputed top option at free safety as both Tracy Walker and C.J. Gardner-Johnson no longer are in the picture. The safety had combined to intercept eight balls during his first two years in the league before he picked off an NFL-high nine passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown in Week 9 versus the rival Packers, this season. Joseph had a good rookie season but now has more competition for snaps after the Lions added C.J. Gardner-Johnson and two other reputable cornerbacks to help Tracy Walker lead the secondary. And that was before also spending a 2023 second-round pick on safety Brian Branch. Considering Joseph didn't see a play on defense last season until after Walker tore his Achilles in Week 3, this influx of talent at defensive back seems to pose a big threat towards Joseph continuing to log 100 percent of the snaps on a game-by-game basis this year.
