Kimani Vidal

24-Year-Old Running BackRB
Los Angeles Chargers
2025 Fantasy Outlook
During his rookie campaign last year, Vidal logged 43 carries for 155 yards while adding five catches for 62 yards and a TD in 10 regular-season games, while working in a backfield that also included J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. Ahead of Week 1 this time around, the 2024 sixth-rounder figures to compete with Hassan Haskins for depth slotting behind newcomers Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton, with Vidal's case for a roster spot/role in 2025 possibly hinging on him demonstrating that he can be a factor in the Chargers' passing game. ANALYSIS
After being elevated for Week 5 Vidal logged 14 snaps in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Commanders, carrying four times for 18 yards and catching his only target for one yard. Meanwhile, fellow running back Hassan Haskins also logged 14 snaps, carrying five times for 13 yards and catching his only target for two yards. With Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reporting that top back Omarion Hampton is slated to go on injured reserve and miss at least four games with an ankle injury, Vidal and Haskins both are expected to see added touches in the weeks to come. The Chargers could also look to add backfield depth in the coming days, but in the meantime, the looming possibility of an expanded workload makes Vidal -- who appears destined for either another elevation or an active roster spot Week 6 -- a worthy waiver-wire target for those in need of help at running back.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A 2024 sixth-round pick, Vidal joins a Chargers backfield with minimal experience beyond ex-Ravens Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. The rookie out of Troy has traits that should appeal to new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman, as Vidal was tough to bring down in college and took 297 carries for 1,661 yards and 14 TDs last season alone. He's not especially elusive, but he showed potential in the passing game with at least 18 receptions in each of his four seasons at Troy, and he earned praise from both coaches and scouts for his pass blocking. Vidal's combination of bulk (5-8, 213) and speed (4.46 40) makes him far more interesting for fantasy than a typical sixth-round pick, especially within the context of a Chargers offense that's looking to run the ball more often despite having a shaky group of veteran RBs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set for bigger role
RBLos Angeles Chargers
October 6, 2025
Vidal will likely take on a bigger role over the next month-plus in the Chargers' backfield due to Omarion Hampton heading to IR with an ankle injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hampton will miss at least four games, leaving rushing duties to Vidal and Hassan Haskins. Haskins has been primarily a special teams player since making his NFL debut in 2022 however, and he has averaged just 3.0 yards on 64 career carries, so his role on offense may not grow that much. Vidal, a sixth-round pick in 2024, hasn't been a whole lot better and has averaged 3.7 yards on 47 career totes, but he likely represents a better early-down option than Haskins.
