2025 Fantasy Outlook
Selected in the seventh round out of Rutgers in the 2025 Draft, Monangai could prove to be a steal for the Bears. While he doesn't have breakaway speed or much in the way of receiving skills, Monangai is surprisingly nimble in traffic and has strong contact balance, potentially making him a weapon on early downs and in short-yardage situations. New head coach Ben Johnson had plenty of success in Detroit with a backfield tandem, and while D'Andre Swift can capably fill the lightning role, Monangai will battle with Roschon Johnson to be the thunder. Light role behind Swift in opener
Monangai played nine of the Bears' 67 snaps on offense and hauled in his lone target for an 11-yard reception in Monday's 27-24 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
With Roschon Johnson (foot) inactive for Week 1, Monangai began his NFL career as the No. 2 back behind D'Andre Swift, but the rookie seventh-round pick predictably saw limited usage. Though his reception went for a first down and lead to an eventual touchdown, Monangai might have undone any goodwill by committing a drive-killing offensive holding penalty in the second quarter. He didn't have a role on special teams in the opener, so he could be at risk of finding himself on the inactive list when Johnson gets healthy and special-teams standout Travis Homer (calf) returns from the PUP list.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Bears' RB2 in Week 1?
Monangai would be slated to serve as the Bears' backup running back behind D'Andre Swift against the Vikings on Monday if Roschon Johnson is unable to play due to a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Johnson logged a limited practice Saturday after opening the week with back-to-back DNPs, but he's far from a guarantee to play in Monday's NFC North clash. Monangai avoided an injury tag for the Bears' regular-season opener after being limited in practice due to a hamstring injury, and the rookie seventh-rounder would be poised to see an uptick in snaps out of the backfield if Johnson is not cleared to suit up. Monangai didn't display pass-catching prowess during his college career at Rutgers, but his profile as a physical runner should allow him to see the field in his NFL regular-season debut, especially if Johnson doesn't play.
