Kyle Monangai

Kyle Monangai

23-Year-Old Running BackRB
Chicago Bears
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Selected in the seventh round out of Rutgers in the 2025 Draft, Monangai could prove to be a steal for the Bears. While he doesn't have breakaway speed or much in the way of receiving skills, Monangai is surprisingly nimble in traffic and has strong contact balance, potentially making him a weapon on early downs and in short-yardage situations. New head coach Ben Johnson had plenty of success in Detroit with a backfield tandem, and while D'Andre Swift can capably fill the lightning role, Monangai will battle with Roschon Johnson to be the thunder. Monangai rushed the ball 14 times for 57 yards in Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Packers. He added one reception on two targets for zero yards.
ANALYSIS
Monangai worked as the traditional lead back for Chicago during the first half, though his touches ultimately evened out with D'Andre Swift throughout the final two quarters. Monangai couldn't find much running room in the tough matchup, logging a long gain of only nine yards while averaging 4.1 yards per carry. While it wasn't his best showing, Monangai has clearly established a major role in the Chicago offense, having logged at least 12 carries in four consecutive contests.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Team will ride hot hand at RB
RBChicago Bears
November 9, 2025
Bears coach Ben Johnson suggested Friday that he'll employ a hot-hand approach to the backfield between Monangai and D'Andre Swift in Week 10 against the Giants, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Monangai racked up 198 scrimmage yards in the Week 9 win over Cincinnati while Swift sat out due to a groin injury. Swift has gained clearance to return in Week 10, but Monangai likely earned himself a substantial role moving forward. Whichever one of Swift or Monangai gets off to a stronger start Sunday against a vulnerable Giants run defense could wind up seeing the lion's share of touches in the Bears backfield.
