2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hughes operated primarily as a slot CB last year but appears to have the inside edge at claiming the CB2 role opposite A.J. Terrell in 2024. Hughes also has experience as a return man but likely wouldn't get too many chances to showcase that skill if he's a regular starter on defense. Read Past Outlooks

Head coach Raheem Morris told reporters Friday that Hughes (neck) won't play in Sunday's matchup against the Broncos, Amna Subhan of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hughes was unable to practice both Thursday and Friday after sustaining a neck injury in the Falcons' Week 10 loss to the Saints, so it's no surprise he's been ruled out for Week 11. Expect Kevin King and Clark Phillips to see increased work with Atlanta's first-team defense while Hughes is sidelined Sunday.

Hughes signed a two-year deal with the Falcons this offseason after appearing in 16 games, including a career-high six starts, with Detroit in 2022. He's slated to compete for a depth role but will also take over primary punt-return duties with Avery Williams out for the season. The 2018 first-round pick has played for three different teams in five seasons, and while he's struggled with consistency, he's shown flashes of being an elite playmaker.
Hughes fared well but not great during a one-year stint in Kansas City. Now set to compete for nickel back snaps in Detroit, Hughes will need to beat out AJ Parker in order to earn a significant role come Week 1.
Hughes was dealt to the Chiefs this offseason in exchange for swapping the Vikings' seventh for Kansas City's sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. It's been a disappointing start to the 2018 first-round pick's career, with suiting up for six or fewer games in two of his first three seasons. He will challenge for playing time in a young Chiefs cornerback room that features L'Jarius Sneed and Charvarius Ward likely locked into starting roles.
Hughes finished the season on injured reserve for the second straight year, but the neck issue isn't expected to be a problem come training camp. The 2018 first-round pick had three starts in 14 games last year and had 45 tackles (39 solo), nine passes defensed, one interception and two forced fumbles. Hughes' health will be paramount for the Vikings in 2020, as he and rookie Jeff Gladney will be the favorites to start following the offseason departures of Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander.
Hughes, Minnesota's 2018 first-round draft pick, might not be a household name after playing for UCF, but that UCF defense was very tough in 2017, and Hughes was arguably its best player along with Shaquem Griffin. Hughes (5-foot-10, 189 pounds) was a physical presence in that pass defense, which allowed a completion percentage of just 55.4 while allowing 24 touchdowns versus 20 interceptions. Hughes intercepted four of those passes, returning one for a touchdown, in addition to scoring twice on kick returns and once on a punt return. Hughes should provide Minnesota with an immediate slot corner and returner upgrade, and in the long term he could move outside if Trae Waynes falters.
