2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Chiefs signed Jones to a one-year, mostly guaranteed contract in 2021, but by the time training camp arrived they lost interest and hitched their wagon to Isiah Pacheco, who they barely cared enough to draft in the first place (seventh round, 251st overall). Jones has played well enough in the NFL to contribute to some team, if only as a rushing specialist, and entering his sixth season he's not even a full year older than the second-year Malik Davis, his main competition for the backup role to Tony Pollard. Jones' career rushing output is at least decent -- 2,244 yards and 19 touchdowns on 505 carries (4.4 YPC) -- and Jones was a much better prospect than Davis. Rookie sixth-round pick Deuce Vaughn, meanwhile, doesn't figure to get many carries up the middle given that he's 5-5, 179. Jones has underachieved, but he has a nice opportunity here, especially since Pollard is an adept pass catcher who could use a rushing specialist to provide relief. Read Past Outlooks

Latches on with Dallas
The Cowboys signed Jones to a one-year deal Tuesday, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.
ANALYSIS
Following four years in Tampa Bay, Jones spent last season with Kansas City, rushing just 17 times for 70 yards and one touchdown as a deep reserve who was inactive from Weeks 1-11 before getting some run in the team's Week 18 finale. Jones will compete for a job behind Tony Pollard this summer.

After a career campaign in 2020, it was widely assumed Jones would at least get a chance to
win a bigger role with the Buccaneers last year. Instead, he got stuck on the bench behind
Leonard Fournette, getting double-digit carries once in the first 15 weeks of the season. A
Fournette hamstring injury opened the starting job for Jones in Week 16, but after a solid
performance against the Panthers, he got hurt himself the following week and his Tampa Bay
tenure ended with a whimper. Jones has shown during his time in the NFL that he can make a
splash as a runner thanks to a blend of speed, elusiveness and burst, but he's also been
plagued by drops and fumbles and seemed to fall in and out of favor with former Bucs coach
Bruce Arians. It'll be a new look for Jones this season, joining a Chiefs backfield led by Clyde
Edwards-Helaire, the 2020 first-round pick who has nearly as many missed games (10) as
touchdowns (11) through two seasons. Jones' lack of receiving skill limits his upside, but he
could prove more effective than Edwards-Helaire as a runner if he gets the chance. First, Jones will need to secure a role, competing with Jerick McKinnon and rookie Isiah Pacheco.
