2023 Fantasy Outlook
Barrett suffered a torn Achilles in Week 8 of last season but is expected to be ready for training camp, when he'll begin a quest to collect double-digit sacks for the third time in the last five years. He's never quite recaptured the level of dominance he managed during a 2019 campaign in which he compiled 19.5 sacks, but he's proven an excellent fit in Todd Bowles' aggressive defensive scheme overall. However, Barrett likely will have an uphill battle to achieve full physical and even mental health in the earlier portion of the 2023 season following the tragic passing of his young daughter this offseason. Gets big pick-six in win
Barrett recorded two tackles, including a sack, and returned an interception for a touchdown against the Bears in a Week 2 victory Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Barrett was on the field for just over half of Tampa Bay's defensive snaps and made the most of his playing time, registering a sack of Justin Fields early in the second quarter and notching a pick-six late in the fourth period to put the Bucs up by 10 points. The touchdown was the nine-year veteran's first in the NFL. The sack was also his first so far this season.

Barrett is more than two years removed from a career-best 19.5-sack season in 2019 that earned him a four-year, $68.5 million deal last offseason. While he's unsurprisingly been unable to match the performance from that elite campaign, Barrett has combined for 18 additional sacks over the last two seasons, including 10 in 2021. Barrett also now has three straight 50-plus tackle campaigns as well, and if Jason Pierre-Paul remains unsigned, the former could enjoy an even bigger pass-rushing role in 2022.
