2024 Fantasy Outlook
After signing a five-year contract extension in September 2023, Steele started all 17 regular-season games for the Cowboys last year at right tackle. The Texas Tech product forms a veteran right side of the offensive line with perennial All-Pro guard Zack Martin. Read Past Outlooks

Steele signed a five-year, $86.8 million contract extension Sunday with $50 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Steele signed a one-year tender in April worth $4.3 million after not being able to come to an agreement on a longer-term deal with the Cowboys. However, the two sides apparently didn't end negotiations there and were ultimately able to work out a new contract. The 26-year-old suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Week 14 last season, but he's been cleared to compete since camp started and is considered 100 percent going into Week 1 against the Giants, where he should be the team's starter at right tackle.

A knee injury cost him the final four games of last season, but Steele had proven himself to be a reliable starting tackle prior to that. Assuming he's fully recovered from surgery, the 26-year-old should be the Cowboys' starting right tackle in 2023.
An undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech, Steele wound up starting 14 games for the Cowboys as a rookie with both Tyron Smith and La'el Collins missing most of the year due to injuries. With the team's two starting tackles healthy again, Steele will revert to a backup role.

Scores big payday

September 3, 2023
Steele signed a five-year, $86.8 million extension that includes $50 million guaranteed Sunday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A busy summer for the Cowboys' front office culminated with Steele's long-anticipated extension, which follows deals for Trevon Diggs and Malik Hooker, along with a key reworking of Zack Martin's contract that ended an impasse. The new contract represents the latest milestone in an unlikely career trajectory for Steele, who initially caught on with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and then saw his season cut short in 2022 by a significant knee injury that involved three torn ligaments. Steele has made quite the recovery from that injury, attending every training camp practice to set himself up for a Week 1 start against the Giants.
