2022 Fantasy Outlook
David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert are atop the Bears' depth chart, and both running backs are capable of playing on all three downs, so it may be difficult for Ebner, a 2022 sixth-round pick, to earn significant playing time. Also, Chicago brought in Darrynton Evans as another depth option, making it possible that Ebner and Evans will be competing for one roster spot. Due to his expected role, Ebner isn't a player who will be selected in most fantasy drafts, but if he has an impressive offseason and preseason, and the team has an injury in front of him on the depth chart, he could be worth looking at on the waiver wire. Limited usage in rookie season
Ebner was targeted twice in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 24 carries for 54 yards along with two receptions for 16 yards.
ANALYSIS
Ebner saw most of his opportunities as a running back when David Montgomery missed time during Weeks 3 and 4, but he never played significant snaps in any other game the rest of the season. It's likely that he'll be counted on to continue his role as a kick returner next year, and if he shows progress as a running back, he could see enhanced opportunities in that capacity as well. He's under contract through 2025.
