Carolina will sign Moehrig to a three-year, $51 million deal, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Moehrig is coming off a career-best year with Las Vegas in which he recorded 10 passes defensed and 104 tackles (64 solo) over 17 games, and now he'll get a big payday with Carolina. He should start at safety in 2025, though it's not yet clear who will start next to him.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, the 2021 second-rounder is coming off a productive 2023 campaign in which he notched a career-high 83 tackles (65 solo), eight passes defensed, three interceptions and 2.0 sacks in 17 games. A repeat of this performance would do wonders for Moehrig in extension negotiations, and as long as he stays healthy, he'll be on the field at safety for a majority of the Raiders' defensive snaps in 2024.
Despite playing two less games as a second-year pro in 2022, Moehrig matched the 55-tackle total that he posted during his rookie campaign while also allowing a 48.4 completion percentage in coverage last season. He figures to remain an every-down starter at free safety in 2023, and the Raiders bolstered the back end of their secondary with the free-agent signing of former Eagle Marcus Epps to line up next to Moehrig.
The 2021 second rounder was a weekly starter at free safety for the Raiders as a rookie, and that role should remain solidified in his second year despite the team's changes at both head coach and defensive coordinator. Moehrig ended his rookie campaign with just one interception and six passes defensed, but he also racked up 55 tackles (36 solo) in 17 games.
The 2020 Jim Thorpe Award recipient elected to forgo his senior season at TCU after being declared the nation's best defensive back, but concerns surrounding a seemingly minor back injury caused him to slip into the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, where the Raiders selected him 43rd overall. As a Horned Frog, the 6-1, 202-pound Moehrig racked up 124 tackles (85 solo), seven interceptions, 21 passes defensed and two forced fumbles in 33 career games. Moehrig's rangy playmaking ability should allow him to immediately compete for a starting role at safety in Gus Bradley's defense.

Key decision point for Raiders
SLas Vegas Raiders
February 23, 2025
Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com suggests that whether to re-sign Moehrig, a pending free agent, is one of the Raiders' key offseason decisions.
ANALYSIS
Moehrig, a 2021 second-round pick, is in an advantageous position this offseason. The soon-to-be fifth-year pro recorded a career-high 104 tackles and 10 defensed passes, including two interceptions, across 17 regular-season games in 2024, adding 13 quarterback pressures, 1.0 sacks and two fumble recoveries. McFadden notes Moehrig's projected market value per Spotrac is $15.7 million annually, and with a new administration in town, it remains to be seen if he'll be deemed worthy of retaining.
