2025 Fantasy Outlook
Despite never living up to his status as second-round pick (2021) during his rookie contract, Atwell is back with the Rams for a fifth season on a one-year, $10 million deal. He didn't score any touchdowns last year but otherwise finished with a bunch of career highs, including 42 catches, 562 targets, a 67.7 percent catch rate and 9.1 yards per target. Atwell drew targets on 24.3 percent of routes and produced 2.20 yards per route, but he didn't get much playing time Weeks 8-17 when both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp were available. Kupp and Demarcus Robinson are gone now, replaced by Davante Adams, which leaves Atwell and Jordan Whittington as the top candidates for the No. 3 receiver job. Atwell's 4.42 speed might seem to make him the better fit alongside a pair of big receivers like Adams and Nacua, but there is some chance the Rams go with all size and no speed if they want Whittington as a more direct replacement for Kupp in the slot. Either way, Atwell probably needs an injury to Nacua or Adams to have any chance at more than a handful of targets per game. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Big gains on both catches
Atwell brought in two of four targets for 72 yards in the Rams' 26-23 overtime loss to the 49ers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Atwell finished third in receiving yards despite recording just a pair of receptions, including a 38-yard grab in Los Angeles' overtime drive. He's suddenly come to life in the passing game over the past five days after going into Week 4 with just one catch for four yards, as he's posted a 3-160-1 line on six targets in the last pair of contests. Despite the recent surge, Atwell remains a hit-or-miss deep threat in an offense that runs almost exclusively through Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and Kyren Williams.

Atwell looked like a breakout player after three games last year. During that time, he caught 17 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown. Atwell slowed down after that stretch, largely due to decreased usage in the offense. Then, after the Week 10 bye, the veteran mostly disappeared from the offense. Aside from a game in which Atwell had three catches for 76 yards, the receiver posted a total of 33 yards in the last six games. It should be noted that Atwell was phased out while DeMarcus Robinson took on a major role. Going into his fourth season, Atwell would have enhanced value if coach Sean McVay restored the role Atwell had early in 2023. At this point, that seems unlikely.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Increased usage likely in '25
Head coach Sean McVay recently said he plans to utilize Atwell, who re-signed with the Rams in March, more often next season, Stu Jackson of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Atwell did put together a career-best season in 2024, setting new personal highs with 17 regular-season games played, as well as 45 receptions for 562 yards. The Louisville product also generated a career-high 67.7 percent catch rate, largely benefitting overall from multi-week absences on the part of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. With Kupp departing this offseason, Atwell is currently No. 3 on the wide receiver depth chart behind Nacua and new arrival Davante Adams.
