Back to practice squad
RBSeattle Seahawks
January 19, 2026
Jones reverted to the Seahawks' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Jones played 16 snaps (11 on offense, five on special teams) during the Seahawks' 41-6 win over the 49ers during Saturday's NFC divisional-round game. He logged six carries for 10 yards, all of which came late in the fourth quarter in garbage time. Jones could have an elevated role in the Seahawks' offense for the NFC Championship Game against the Rams this Sunday after Zach Charbonnet likely tore his ACL against San Francisco, though George Holani (hamstring) could be activated from injured reserve this week to provide depth in the backfield.

2022
Jones has done very little on offense since the Bears selected him in the third round of the 2022 Draft. As a rookie, the Tennessee product posted 107 yards as a receiver and 103 yards on the ground. However, the receiver took a step back in 2023, when he was limited to 71 yards from scrimmage. Jones is likely to remain a depth option this season, with the 27-year-old likely to make his greatest contribution to the team be on special teams, where he has been a kick returner since joining the team.
Jones' greatest value to the Bears in his rookie 2022 season was as a kick returner. On offense, he actually had more rushing attempts (nine) than receptions (seven), with seven of those touches coming in the last four games of the campaign. Despite the uptick in late-season usage, he'll be competing for a depth role on offense this fall with Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis and Tyler Scott, while likely retaining his role on special teams on game days.
Jones didn't break out until his fifth year of college as a 24-year-old. That late college production presents some red flags as he embarks on his NFL career, as he'll no longer have the athletic advantage he had over his peers in college. But Chicago wanted to infuse speed into their offense, and with a 4.31 time in the 40-yard dash, Jones could profile as a deep threat right away. Although there's potential for him to be a starting receiver Week 1, he should be considered a boom-or-bust option as a rookie.

Impresses as RB in preseason finale
RBChicago Bears
August 23, 2024
Jones, who's been increasingly logging more time at running back, made a strong case for the 53-man roster with his performance in Thursday night's preseason finale against the Chiefs, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The converted receiver carried 13 times for 111 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for 11 yards, with the highlight of his night a 39-yard touchdown run. Jones had also recorded six carries for 34 yards in Chicago's second preseason contest, but he might be hard-pressed to garner anything more than a No. 4 spot on the positional depth chart if neither Roschon Johnson nor Khalil Herbert are moved off the roster prior to final cuts.
