Utah Mammoth
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Cooley recorded a solid 44 points as a rookie in 2023-24, and he took a big step forward as a sophomore by supplying 25 goals and 63 points across 75 appearances with Utah. Taken with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, this is just the beginning of a promising career. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him grow further in 2025-26, perhaps generating a point per game while serving primarily on Utah’s first line. The only real downsides are that he doesn’t take a lot of shots relative to other high-end forwards -- he had 158 shots last season -- and he still needs to improve on the draw after posting a 44.7 percent win rate last year. However, those are trade-offs well worth making for the sake of having a player with so much offensive potential on your fantasy squad. Read Past Outlooks

Avoids missing first game of season

Cooley (lower body) is in the lineup for Monday's game in San Jose.
ANALYSIS
Cooley was deemed a game-time call heading into Monday's road matchup, but he'll avoid missing his first game of the 2025-26 campaign. The rising star was unable to put weight on his left leg after a collision during Saturday's game against St. Louis, so his injury was seemingly a stinger more than anything overly serious. Cooley will center the second line between Nick Schmaltz and Dylan Guenther on Monday, and he'll likely skate on the No. 1 power-play unit as well.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
It was an outstanding rookie campaign for Cooley, as he suited up in all 82 regular-season games for the Coyotes. He earned 20 goals and 24 assists, including 13 power-play points, to go with 151 shots on goal, 50 hits and 27 blocked shots. In the end, the center finished the year fourth in the rookie points standings, just missing out on being a Calder Trophy finalist behind eventual winner Connor Bedard, Brock Faber and Luke Hughes. The upcoming 2024-25 campaign could feel like a second rookie year for the 20-year-old Cooley as the team moves to Utah and its new digs at the Delta Center. Assuming the Pittsburgh native takes another step in his development, he is more than capable of improving upon his rookie numbers, making him a top-end fantasy target - though the threat of a sophomore slump is certainly still on the table.
After one season at the University of Minnesota, Cooley signed his entry-level deal with Arizona this offseason. He made the most of that lone collegiate campaign, racking up 22 goals and 60 points in 39 games, resulting in a top-three finish for the Hobey Baker Award. The 19-year-old also tallied seven goals and 14 points at the World Juniors this year. As one of the top prospects in hockey, Cooley is expected to jump straight into NHL action to begin the 2023-24 campaign. Given the state of the Coyotes' roster, he'll likely see top-six minutes early on. His ceiling will be limited due to his supporting cast, but Cooley will make an immediate fantasy impact upon his debut.

Avoids serious injury
CUtah Mammoth
November 30, 2025
Cooley has avoided a serious injury in Saturday's 1-0 loss to the Blues and is battling a charley horse, Andy Strickland of FanDuel Sports Network reports Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Cooley left Saturday's game after an awkward knee-on-knee collision with Alexei Toropchenko and did not return. Cooley may still miss some time as a result of this injury, but the 21-year-old budding star has avoided a major injury. He has 14 goals and nine assists in 22 games to begin the season.
