Gautier defeated Yura Naito via TKO (punches) at 4:00 of Round 2 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series 72. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a slight betting underdog of approximately (+130), Gautier was looking to land a highlight-reel finish in Round 1, narrowly missing on a massive knee that led to him getting taken down and spending the rest of the frame on his back. Gautier continued to load up on his shots in Round 2, but this time he was able to avoid Naito's takedown attempts and find a big overhand right.
