Fighting heavy opponent
Ribeiro's opponent Diyar Nurgozhay came in 4.5 pounds overweight ahead of Saturday's bout at UFC Vegas 104, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Ribeiro will likely receive a hefty portion of Diyar Nurgozhay's fight purse after he came in at 210.5 pounds (4.5 pounds over the heavyweight limit). The 28-year-old Brazilian fighter, who is 1-2 in his UFC career, will look to secure a win over the newcomer this weekend.

Booked against debutant
Ribeiro will fight Diyar Nurgozhay at UFC Vegas 104 on March 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
A win over Caio Machado in November allowed Ribeiro to capture his first UFC victory in three tries. He'll now look to string together consecutive wins against an opponent who will be making his first appearance in the UFC but enters the fight with a perfect 10-0 professional record.

Finally earns first UFC victory
Ribeiro defeated Caio Machado via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Edmonton.
ANALYSIS
It's Ribeiro's first UFC victory in three attempts and it came in a fight in which his opponent won the total strike battle by a 79-49 count. To Brendson's credit, he did land the harder, more damaging blows, but in a bout which was overly sloppy on both sides, Ribeiro is darn lucky two of the three judges felt he did enough to win. It very easily could have gone the other way. The Brazilian has legitimate power, but his cardio is questionable, as is his durability. This result seems more likely to be an aberration as opposed of a sign of things to come.

Will face Machado
Ribeiro will face Caio Machado in a heavyweight fight at UFC Edmonton on Nov. 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Ribeiro is looking to secure his first win at the UFC level after dropping his most recent fight via unanimous decision -- it was against Magomed Gadzhiyasulov via majority decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-28) at UFC Fight Night in Riyadh on June this year. Ribeiro is 0-2 at the UFC level, just like his opponent, who also hails from Brazil.

Still looking for first UFC win
Ribeiro lost to Magomed Gadzhiyasulov via majority decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
ANALYSIS
Known as a one-dimensional power puncher with a questionable chin, Ribeiro got his grappling game going early in this fight. He landed three takedowns in the opening frame alone. Ribeiro also threatened with a deep guillotine choke early in Round 2, but once it didn't materialize, he was finished. The Brazilian appeared tired over the final round-plus, allowing Gadzhiyasulov to get his grappling game going en route to the decision victory. Ribeiro earned a knockout win on Dana White's Contender Series last September, but he has now lost each of his first two official bouts with the UFC. He likely needs a win next time out to save his job.
