October 24, 2024
Alvarez is scheduled to compete against Drakkar Klose in a lightweight fight at UFC Tampa on Dec. 14, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Alvarez will look to finish 2024 with multiple wins. This year began rough for him, as multiple fight cancellations prevented him from logging his first victory until when he defeated Elves Brener via TKO in August. Meanwhile, Klose is on a four-fight win streak.

Dominant run continues
LightweightUFC
August 3, 2024
Alvarez defeated Elves Brener via TKO (strikes) at 3:36 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
The brilliant run of Alvarez continues. This was a near-flawless performance again a perfectly legitimate opponent. Joel opened up on the feet early on and nearly got the submission win in the dying seconds of the frame. He was in firm control the next eight-plus minutes before one huge blow followed by some brutal knees put Brener away for good. It would also go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Dating back to June 2019, Alvarez is 6-1, and the lone defeat during that stretch came against one of the best lightweights in the world in Arman Tsarukyan. The 31-year-old Spaniard is deserving of a massive bump in competition his next time out as his continues his assault on the 155-pound rankings.

ANALYSIS
After dropping out his fight with Mateusz Rebecki back in April, Alvarez will face a new opponent, Elves Brener, who is coming off his first UFC defeat. Alvarez has dropped out of multiple bouts since his last victory in July 2023 but is looking to add his sixth victory in his last seven fights.

Alvarez (undisclosed) has dropped his fight against Mateusz Rebecki that was scheduled for UFC Vegas 91 on April 27, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Alvarez has dropped out of another bout after most recently withdrawing from his matchup with L'udovit Klein that was scheduled for UFC Vegas 87. It is unclear what issue plagues the 31-year-old Spanish fighter who most recently stepped in the ring in July of 2023.

Alvarez will no longer take on L'udovit Klein at UFC Vegas 87 for an undisclosed reason, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
It is unclear why Alvarez had to withdraw from the bout, but he will be replaced by AJ Cunningham. It remains to be seen when his next fight will be, but once a new one is booked he will look to build on the momentum of winning five of his six previous matches via stoppage.
Added to UFC Saudi Arabia
LightweightUFC
January 7, 2024
Alvarez will take on L'udovit Klein in a lightweight matchup at UFC Saudi Arabia on March 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Alvarez has won five of his last six fights via stoppage, with the lone blemish coming against a potential future title contender in Arman Tsarukyan. He now takes on a fighter in Klein who has won three of his last four, though all of those victories have gone to the judges. Both fighters sport similar striking volumes, but Klein appears more likely to bring his wrestling game to the table -- something Alvarez has struggled with on occasion.
