Nearly pulls off miracle comeback
Chandler lost to Charles Oliveira via unanimous decision (46-49, 46-49, 45-49) at UFC 309 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
Now 38 years of age, Chandler sat on the sidelines for more than two years waiting for a Conor McGregor fight to come together. It never got to the finish line, and Chandler was undoubtedly hurt by the time off. He looked rusty for 20 minutes in his return, getting dominated by Oliveira for four rounds. Yet, as we have seen with Chandler in the past, he has a heart of a lion and nearly came all the way back to pull a huge upset. Chandler damaged Charles with a huge right hand early in Round 5 and ended up in a dominant position on the mat. He landed countless unanswered blows to the back of Oliveira's head, but Charles survived and eventually found one final takedown to secure the win. Chandler again called out McGregor in his post-fight interview, which is understandable because it's the biggest payday a fighter in this sport can get. Whether or not it ever happens is up for debate. In the meantime, he'll walk away with an extra $50,000 after this co-main event matchup was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Will face Charles Oliveira
Chandler will take on Charles Oliveira in a lightweight bout at UFC 309 on Nov. 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Chandler was holding on and waiting to fight Conor McGregor, and while that bout hasn't been ruled out for the future, Chandler will step on the octagon to face another complicated opponent in what will be the co-main event of the Nov. 16 slate. Chandler is 37 already and it remains to be seen how much he has left in the tank. After all, his most recent fight came in Nov. 2022 against Dustin Poirier, when he lost via submission in the third round.

McGregor fight canceled
Chandler will no longer fight Conor McGregor on June 29 at UFC 303, according to UFC President Dana White.
ANALYSIS
McGregor pulled out of UFC 303 with an undisclosed injury, now leaving Chandler no one to fight in Las Vegas. Unless a big name steps up last minute, the latter will not compete in that late-June event. In place of McGregor-Chandler as 303's main event is Alex Pereira against Jiri Prochazka for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.

McGregor welterweight fight done
UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed a welterweight fight between Chandler and Conor McGregor for UFC 303 in Las Vegas on June 29, per Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Chandler has longed to fight McGregor, and he will get his demand, but with a caveat. Dana White said the bout is at 170 pounds, meaning the longtime lightweight will have to move up a division for the first time since the early-2010s, when he was employed by Bellator. Both fighters are coming off losses to Dustin Poirier and more than a year off. For the 36-year-old Chandler, who will be competing at 37, he will look to boost his UFC stock and overall image with a win over the promotion's most recognizable fighter.
