Earns biggest win of career
BantamweightUFC
December 6, 2025
Talbott defeated Henry Cejudo via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 323 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was not an easy fight for Talbott despite the fact Cejudo is getting up there in age and was competing in the final bout of his storied career. He still managed to go out there and put forth a stellar performance dominating in all aspects of the fight. Blessed with an overwhelming edge in terms of speed and power, Talbott easily dominated the striking exchanges between the two. More surprising was the fact Payton landed three takedowns on a former Olympic gold medalist. It was a complete all-around effort. Talbott was left for dead following a dreadful performance in a unanimous decision defeat to Raoni Barcelos in January, but he's since looked unbelievable in wins over Felipe Lima and Cejudo. The 27-year-old Nevada native appears to be right back on track at 135 pounds.

Set for Cejudo bout
BantamweightUFC
October 13, 2025
Talbott will fight Henry Cejudo at UFC 323 on Dec. 6, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Talbott rebounded from a shocking loss to Raoni Barcelos with a unanimous decision victory over Felipe Lima in late June. He'll have a chance to improve to 5-1 in the UFC by defeating Henry Cejudo, who lost his most recent match due to a technical unanimous decision.
Improvements evident in victory
BantamweightUFC
June 28, 2025
Talbott defeated Felipe Lima via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 317 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Talbott was dominated as a -1200 favorite by Raoni Barcelos in mid-January. He gave up eight takedowns in that fight and spent nearly 10 minutes on his back. Talbott deserves full marks for getting back in the gym and fixing the biggest hole in his game. He appeared much more confident and aggressive in shutting down 12-of-15 tries from Lima. He got better and better as the fight progressed, and by the time the final bell rang, it was clear he'd be winning a decision. Talbott's power and stand-up skills are legitimate. He's never going to be much of an offensive grappler, but if the takedown defense holds up like it did today, he's a massive threat in there. Talbott improves to 4-1 in the UFC.
Bounce-back opportunity scheduled
BantamweightUFC
June 15, 2025
Talbott will take on Felipe Lima in a bantamweight matchup at UFC 317 on June 28, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Talbott suffered his first career loss as a heavy favorite against Raoni Barcelos in January, and the highly-regarded prospect is now looking for a chance to bounce back. He'll draw another quality prospect in Lima who is a perfect 2-0 in the UFC, with victories over Muhammadjon Naimov and Miles Johns. Talbott will have height and reach advantages, in addition to a much higher mark in volume striking.
Falls as historic favorite
BantamweightUFC
January 18, 2025
Talbott lost to Raoni Barcelos via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 26-30) at UFC 311 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
Talbott becomes the second top prospect of the evening to suffer his first career defeat, joining Rinya Nakamura. Entering as a -1200 favorite, Talbott was on the defensive from the very start. He couldn't keep Barcelos off of him. He gave up eight takedowns on 15 attempts, good for 9:43 worth of control time. The constant work from the bottom resulted in Payton's gas tank quickly draining, limiting his ability to make headway on the feet later on. Talbott is young enough (26) and talented to overcome this setback, but his timeline has most definitely been altered following this result.
