Inconsistent ways continue
Yan lost to Virna Jandiroba via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 314 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
Yan would have found herself right back in the title mix if she was able to get past Jandiroba. Instead, she found herself getting routed in what was essentially a No. 1 contender bout. Any theoretical edge Yan may have had on the feet was completely negated by the fact she couldn't stay off of her back. She allowed one takedown in each round and gave up 9:59 worth of control time overall. Yan's track record against high-end competition is pretty strong, but she'll be 36 years of age in June and is just 3-4 in her past seven fights. Time is running out.

Fighting Jandiroba in April
Xiaonan will take on Virna Jandiroba at UFC 314 in Miami on April 12, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Xiaonan will look to build off her recent victory over Tabatha Ricci heading into UFC 314. The 35-year-old Chinese fighter will look to height advantage to take out the older Jandiroba, though the Brazilian will take a slight reach advantage into the bout. With and impressive 8-1 professional record in KO/TKO finishes, Xiaonan will likely look to use her power to overcome the Brazilian submission specialist.

Gets right back in win column
Yan defeated Tabatha Ricci via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Macau, China.
ANALYSIS
It was a flawless performance from Yan on the heels of her loss to Zhang Weili in a championship fight in April. Yan hung tough in that fight despite the defeat and got right back in the win column here. She dominated on the feet to the tune of a 78-15 edge in significant strikes landed. She also stuffed two of three Ricci takedown attempts. Yan will be 36 years of age next June and that's most definitely a concern, as is her 3-3 record in her past six fights, but Yan remains firmly in the title mix in a 115-pound female division which lacks high-end depth.

To fight at UFC Macau
Xiaonan will fight Tabatha Ricci at UFC Macau on Nov. 23, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Xiaonan fell short in April's title belt fight against Zhang Weili, but she'll get the opportunity to avenge the loss with a victory over Tabatha Ricci at UFC Macau. Before the title loss, Xiaonan had pulled off back-to-back upset wins.

Hangs tough in title bout loss
Yan came up short in her quest for the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship, falling to Zhang Weili via unanimous decision (45-49, 45-49, 45-49) at UFC 300 in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Yan had a legitimate chance to win this fight, which is absolutely insane considering she essentially lost it on two separate occasions. Yan was literally choked unconscious at the end of Round 1, but was saved by the bell and woke up immediately. She was then flattened out in Round 2, but referee Jason Herzog gave her plenty of time to work through it, and Yan somehow survived. She had far more energy than Zhang in the middle rounds and landed some massive blows including a knockdown, but the champ's wrestling game emerged once again over the course of the final ten minutes, ending Yan's dreams. Yan will be 35 years of age this coming June. She's 2-3 in her past five fight dating back to May 2021. There's an overwhelming chance this will have been her only shot at UFC gold.

Gets shot at title
Xiaonan is scheduled to face Zhang Weili for the UFC Strawweight Championship at UFC 300 in Las Vegas on April 13, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Xiaonan pulled off the upset victory over Jessica Andrade in her last fight, and she'll now officially get a shot at the strawweight title. Xiaonan has entered as the underdog in each of her last two fights, and the trend will likely continue versus Weili. However, Weili is no stranger to having the title taken from her.
