Begins loan with goal
Chaves scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 win versus Bayern Munich.
ANALYSIS
To strengthen the team's defense, especially without Chrislain Matsima (thigh) and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (knee) available, Augsburg signed Chaves on loan. He made his team debut Saturday and made his debut in one of the best ways possible, by logging Augsburg's first and game-tying goal Saturday. On top of the solid defense, and even though the goal scoring is unlikely to continue, Chaves being part of Augsburg's primary defensive line is an ongoing expectation until further notice.

Joins Augsburg on loan
Chaves joins Augsburg on loan from Hoffenheim until the end of the season, with an option to buy, his new club announced. "Due to the injury-related absences of Chrislain Matsima and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, it was clear to us that we wanted to strengthen our defense. With Arthur, we are signing a combative center-back who fits our requirements perfectly and can play in all three positions in the back line. He knows the Bundesliga very well and can therefore help us immediately," said FCA Sporting Director Benni Weber.

Inks extension with Hoffenheim
Chaves has signed a new long term contract with TSG Hoffenheim, the club announced. "Arthur has made remarkable progress over the past year, quickly establishing himself in the Bundesliga and also making his mark in the Europa League with consistent, strong performances. We are delighted that Arthur has clearly committed to us with this early contract extension and that he is looking forward to his future here at Hoffenheim. We are convinced that his sporting development is far from complete, that he still has great potential and that we will succeed together," said Andreas Schicker, Sporting Director of TSG.
