Sane entered the match in the 81st minute as a replacement for Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly. He made an instant impact, first by drawing a penalty in the 85th, which was converted by Gauthier Hein for their squad's first goal of the match. Minutes later, Sane set up Hein for another goal off of a fast break, to take a 2-0 lead early in second half extra time.
