Josef Martinez
32-Year-Old
Club Tijuana
Liga MX
Acquired by Xolos
Martinez has joined Tijuana after being let go by MLS side San Jose Earthquakes, his new club announced Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Martinez left San Jose after scoring 14 goals and two assists over 30 matches played (21 starts) in the 2025 MLS season, although he wasn't a guaranteed starter towards the end of the year. He's a proven quality striker who has played for several MLS clubs and even has European experience with teams in Italy and Switzerland, as well as an international record of 15 goals in 70 appearances for Venezuela. He might be in a close contention with Mourad if Xolos use a single striker throughout the campaign.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set to leave Atlanta United
Martinez is expected to leave Atlanta United, according to The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
This shouldn't come as a surprise, as Martinez was left on the bench in the final weeks of the season and also had a fair share of problems with both Gonzalo Pineda and Carlos Bocanegra, the team's head coach and sporting director, respectively. Atlanta have been pursuing a new striker of late and are expected to use the Designated Player spot to find a replacement for Martinez.
