Burney has officially signed a first-team contract after transitioning from the University of Pennsylvania's Penn Quakers, the club
announced.
ANALYSISBurney contributed this season to four goals and two assists while being part of a defense that achieved a 0.57 goals-against average and five clean sheets, according to the club. Over his four-year career, he started all 69 matches he played from 2021 to 2024, recording 11 goals and five assists. Having joined the Sounders FC Academy in 2014, he is now the 24th Homegrown Player in team history. He will provide youthful depth to the defense, complementing the outstanding performances of
Yeimar Gomez and
Jackson Ragen this season.
