When Muriel made the switch from Serie A to MLS, many touted him as immediately being one of the best strikers in the league. That certainly didn't play out as he was held to just five goals. He did add seven assists but in the back half of the season he was relegated to the bench, making just 14 starts all year. Duncan McGuire will be sidelined early in the 2025 season, which could perhaps give Muriel his best shot to try and take the starting striker job from Ramiro Enrique and maybe find a spark or two.

ANALYSIS
Muriel appeared off the bench due to rotation between Leagues Cup and MLS action, but seven minutes were enough for him to produce his side's lone goal from inside the box and receive a straight red card for violent conduct. The forward will consequently be suspended for the next match against D.C. United, and his next chance to feature in league play will come Sept. 20 versus Nashville. This will likely allow Ramiro Enrique to get another opportunity in the starting lineup.
