Weiper was out of contract this offseason but has rekindled his link with Mainz, signing a new contract until June 2029. This is a good move for both sides, as the forward is continuing to break into the squad while the club keeps a young and talented recruit around. He only started in seven of his 23 appearances last season while bagging three goals, although that will likely grow this campaign.
