Ryan Gauld
29-Year-Old
Vancouver Whitecaps FC
MLS
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gauld put together perhaps the single-best season of his career in 2024, scoring 15 times and adding 12 assists while leading Vancouver to the playoffs yet again. The striker is at the heart of everything going forward for the Whitecaps, with his ability to play anywhere across the front three invaluable. He's showing no signs of slowing down and with Stuart Armstrong integrating into the team, the entire Vancouver attack could be in for a bump in 2025. If Gauld can take that next step, he has the potential to be one of the best attackers in MLS, and perhaps even an MVP candidate.

Can't play 90 minutes yet
Gauld made his return from injury in Sunday's 4-1 victory against San Jose but is not yet able to play a full game, coach Jesper Sorensen said in a press conference, according to Har Johal from Daily Hive. "No, he's not. It would be nice. He's ready to do more and that's what we want from him."
ANALYSIS
Gauld registered two shots, two tackles and one chance created in his return from a long-term knee injury on Sunday against San Jose. The playmaker is back available for the Whitecaps, although he still can't complete a full game according to his coach. He will look to build on his fitness ahead of the playoffs.

Nearing return
Gauld (knee) is training fully with the team and nearing a return but the game against Portland comes too soon for him, coach Jesper Sorensen said in a press conference, according to Har Johal from Daily Hive. "Ryan is now in a period where we train him. He does everything in training, but he also has to be sustainable and then we also have to build on top of that. He has to face physical things because he's been out for so long, but it won't be long until we can see him in the roster as well and it'll be great."

Ramping up training
Gauld (knee) is still ramping up his workload in training, according to manager Jasper Sorensen."He needs to clear some stages where he trains together with the team and where he makes himself available and it's not just being in training for two or three times. He needs to train for a while. It's how he's back, not when he's back."
