DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Chris Sale, BOS at KC ($13,200): With a salary drop following his last start, Sale is easier to fit under the cap Tuesday. He sports a dominant 1.78 FIP and 35.2 strikeout percentage this season, and Kansas City isn't a daunting opponent with a 23rd-ranked .300 wOBA against lefties this season. With a lack of star power in the pitcher pool, spending up to make Sale a lineup building block is a strong starting point.

Mike Montgomery, CHC vs. SDP ($5,500): A low-priced flier to consider, Montgomery will be making his third start of the season and draws a high-end matchup against San Diego. The Padres own a league-worst .280 wOBA and target-worthy 24.5 strikeout percentage against lefties this season. Montgomery should also be stretched out enough to position himself for the win and has struck out nine batters through nine innings over his first two starts of the year.

CATCHER

Devin Mesoraco, CIN at TAM ($3,300):Alex Cobb has been very mediocre this season with a 4.29 FIP while allowing a .341 wOBA to right-handed hitters. Mesoraco enters the game sporting a monster .320 ISO and .394 wOBA against righty arms, and his salary offers plenty of cap relief.

FIRST BASE

Anthony Rizzo, CHC vs. SDP ($4,900):Jhoulys Chacin owns a 10.27 ERA on the road while allowing a .550 wOBA to left-handed hitters away from Petco Park. This is a dreamy matchup for Rizzo, and he's also both scorching hot () and owns a great track record against righties ().

SECOND BASE

Ian Happ, CHC vs. SDP ($3,900): This salary doesn't align with Happ's upside, as the rookie has posted a .329 ISO and .370 wOBA against right-handed hurlers and seven of his eight home runs have come against righties. As noted, it's also a cushy matchup against Jhoulys Chacin.

THIRD BASE

Justin Turner, LAD vs. NYM ($4,500): With a .417 wOBA against right-handed hurlers, Turner is a solid target at this salary. He hits in the heart of a dangerous lineup, and Robert Gsellman has surrendered a .549 slugging percentage and .391 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season.

SHORTSTOP

Dansby Swanson, ATL vs. SFG ($3,500):Matt Moore has had significant struggles on the road this season and sports a 9.24 ERA away from AT&T Park while surrendering a .449 wOBA. Swanson's career .300 ISO and .412 wOBA against southpaws jump off the page at his discounted price.

OUTFIELD

Bradley Zimmer, CLE at BAL ($4,400):Chris Tillman has allowed 28 runs through 20.1 innings for a 11.51 ERA over his past five starts while surrendering a .451 wOBA to left-handed hitters for the year. It's clearly a cushy matchup for Zimmer, and the rookie outfielder sports a .954 OPS and .404 wOBA against right-handed arms this year.

Tommy Pham, STL at PHI ($4,300): While this isn't the traditional handedness advantage for Pham, he owns a respectable .342 wOBA and 35.7 hard-hit percentage against right-handed arms this season. Jeremy Hellickson has also surrendered a .368 wOBA to righty bats this year. Expect Pham to be scarcely owned, too.

Delino DeShields Jr., TEX vs. TOR ($3,900): The speedster is a sneaky option Tuesday. Deshields typically leads off against southpaws and sports a rock-solid .414 on-base percentage and .350 wOBA against lefties this season. Francisco Liriano has also issued a .370 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season, so the matchup also checks out.
