2024 Fantasy Outlook
Bello exhibited some improvement in his first full season, but he still has work to do if he wants to be a front of the rotation starter. He improved his control, but it came at the expense of strikeouts. Bello has the raw stuff to be more dominant, but he's yet to establish a third pitch to complement his sinker and outstanding changeup. Not only was his swinging strike percentage below average, but his called strike percentage was well below average, resulting in one of the lowest CSW% among pitchers throwing at least 150 innings. Bello has the arsenal to improve both swinging and called strikes, he just needs to find the right sequencing. Bello should have a rotation spot locked up and won't have any innings restrictions. The cost to see if he can take the nest step shouldn't be prohibitive, but he's in the wrong division, with the wrong home park to use in a streaming capacity. Read Past Outlooks

Fans seven in quality start
Bello did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over six innings while striking out seven.
ANALYSIS
Bello struck out four of the first six batters he faced in the contest prior to surrendering a solo homer to Gavin Lux in the bottom of the second. The right-hander was then able to hold the Dodgers scoreless over the next three frames before allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the sixth, leading to two more runs coming across for Los Angeles. Bello had won each of his previous three starts coming in and now holds a 28:5 K:BB in July. He's also logged a quality start in back-to-back outings and in four of his last six overall.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
After dominating at Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, Bello was promoted in early July and immediately inserted into the Red Sox rotation. The righty was overmatched and sent back to Triple-A in early August. Bello was recalled three weeks later and gathered much better results. He registered a 3.12 ERA down the stretch, albeit with an inflated 1.56 WHIP, stemming from a .336 BABIP over that 36.1 inning sample. Bello needs to work on his control, but he throws 97-mph and possesses a plus changeup. With some fine tuning and seasoning, Bello could be a rotation staple. It remains to be seen if Bello makes the necessary adjustments and breaks camp in Boston's rotation.

Brings back four-seam fastball
Bello threw his four-seam fastball 11 times during Wednesday's win against the Marlins after not using the pitch in his first 14 starts of the season, reports Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander ditched the offering after opposing batters hit .310 and slugged .646 against it in 2023, but he elected to re-introduce the pitch after being pushed back a few days following a rough June. Bello made five starts in the month and surrendered 22 earned runs with a 20:14 K:BB across 24 innings, so it was encouraging to see him give up just a single run in 6.2 frames Wednesday. The 25-year-old's fastball velocity is up nearly a full tick this year, which could help the four-seamer play better if he continues to utilize it.
