2025 Fantasy Outlook
Woo's 2024 season was an extension of his professional resume: impressive stints disrupted by injury. Woo required an internal brace procedure after his collegiate career in 2021, but reached the majors in 2023 and worked 131.2 innings while skipping over Triple-A in the process. The 2024 season saw him pitch nearly the same amount of innings between the majors and a minor league rehab assignment due to a mid-summer hamstring injury that preceded a forearm discomfort scare in mid-June. Woo throws five different pitches to both lefties and righties, with his sweeper being the deadliest of them all. Woo mainly used the sweeper to neutralize righties (.100 avg, 42 percent whiff rate) while using his changeup to lefties (.186 avg, 21 percent whiff rate), which helped his four-seam fastball (.218 avg, 27 percent whiff rate) play up extremely well. The pieces are here for Woo to take a step forward in 2025 like the other starters around him have recently done, but his health troubles need to get out of the way for him to fully realize his potential. Eight Ks in six scoreless innings
Woo (8-4) earned the win Friday against the Pirates, giving up no runs on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out eight.
Analysis
Woo continued to rack up punchouts Friday, retiring at least eight by way of strikeout for his third start in a row. The 25-year-old right-hander has remarkably tossed at least six innings in each of his first 17 outings of the season, and three of his last four appearances have come without an earned run on his ledger. Woo holds a superb 2.77 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 104:19 K:BB across 107.1 innings, and he's next set for a tough test against the Yankees in the Bronx.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A sixth-round pick in 2021, Woo debuted in June to little fanfare. He ended up taking the ball 18 times for the Mariners around a stint on the injured list with right forearm inflammation, and Woo pitched well enough to position himself as the club's fifth starter -- at least tentatively. Woo throws the kitchen sink at opposing hitters (four-seamer, sinker, cutter, slider, changeup) and it's all helped by the extension he gets on his throws. His strikeout rate was relatively modest at 25.1%, but his minor-league K rates suggest there is room for growth in that department. He was bit by the long ball occasionally, and it's possible Seattle brings in another starter to two this winter to bump Woo down the depth chart. He's not assured of a starting role to begin 2024, but Woo will likely be needed for a good number of starts either way.
